Poirier, Geertsen make soccer honor roll

Concordia's Melanie Poirier, a mid-fielder from Laval, Que., and defender Erica Geertsen of Kirkland, Que. have been named to the QSSF second all-star team for women's soccer.

Last year, Poirier was named a CIS second team all-Canadian and a first team Quebec all-star. She was also a second team conference all-star in both 2003 and 2004.

Geertsen collected two goals and three assists in 14 games. She earned MVP honors in four matches. The third-year Sociology major was also a second team Quebec all-star in 2005.

This season, the Concordia women's soccer team posted a 3-6-5 record and finished in fifth place out of eight teams.
