The Concordia Stingers soccer programs turned in strong performances this past weekend, going unbeaten across four matches.
On the men’s side, Lundon Durand Browne was the difference maker. On Friday, he scored a stunning 35-yard goal to give Concordia a 1-0 win over Sherbrooke. He followed it up with a brace on Sunday, leading the Stingers to a 2-0 victory at UQAM. Goalkeeper Massimo Schiavoni anchored the defense, making eight saves on Friday and another five on Sunday.
With the two wins, the men’s team improves to 3-5, sitting fifth in the RSEQ standings.
The women’s team battled to a 0-0 draw against Sherbrooke on Friday, highlighted by a clutch penalty save from goalkeeper Naïlla Louissaint in the second half. On Sunday, the Stingers earned a 2-1 win over UQAM thanks to goals from Devon Vermaire and Brianna Pinazza. Louissaint was once again outstanding, recording 14 saves.
The women’s team now sits sixth in the RSEQ with a 2-4-3 record.
Both teams will be back in action on the road next weekend, visiting Montréal on Friday before heading to McGill on Sunday.
