The Concordia Stingers women’s soccer team made history this weekend, qualifying for the RSEQ playoffs for the first time since 2005. The Stingers secured their spot with a thrilling 4–3 win over Laval on Friday, followed by a 1–1 draw against UQTR on Sunday.
Friday’s victory was highlighted by goals from Rachel Vermaire, Kinifoh Coulibaly, and a pair from Alma Aristilde, as the Stingers outlasted the defending champions in a back-and-forth battle.
On Sunday, it was once again Vermaire who delivered in the clutch, scoring the lone goal that sealed third place in the RSEQ standings. The veteran forward has now scored seven goals this season, ranking second in the conference.
The Stingers will look to keep their momentum going when they travel to Quebec City to face the Laval Rouge et Or in the RSEQ semifinal, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
