Kyara D'Annessa of the women's soccer team and Aidan McMullan of the men's rugby team have been named the Subway-Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 31.
D’Annessa, a first-year mid-fielder, played a key role in the Stingers’ two wins on the weekend. She set up the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters last Friday. Two days later she scored three goals and was the game MVP in a 4-3 win over the Sherbrooke Vert & Or.
A 22-year-old resident of Laval, Que., D’Annessa is studying Marketing in Concordia’s John Molson School of Business.
McMullan, a second-year centre, played a pivotal role in the Stingers’ 37-21 semifinal playoff victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees last Saturday. He scored a try and was named the game MVP. The win gives Concordia a berth in the RSEQ championship game versus the Redbirds at McGill’s Molson Stadium on Saturday.
The 24-year-old student from Dollard des Ormeaux, Que. is studying Building Engineering at Concordia.
