Howes commits to soccer Stingers

Jorge Sanchez, head coach of the Concordia Stingers women’s soccer team, is pleased to announce that top recruit Molly Howes has committed to his program.

Howes, a mid-fielder from Surrey, B.C., comes to Concordia with an impressive soccer résumé. She competed in the North American Super Y League with the Abbotsford Mariners in 2006 and in the Pacific Coast League with Surrey United in 2007. She is currently playing with Semiahmoo where she is a teammate of Emily Hubbard, who joined the Stingers in 2007.

A well-rounded athlete, she also competes in track and field, cross-country and with the prestigious White Rock Renegades fast pitch team.

"Molly will bring great athleticism and provide some attacking options from the midfield to the team,” Sanchez says. “She is known for her high level of fitness, speed and soccer smarts. I look forward to seeing her compete with our veteran players "

Howes will major in Urban Studies at Concordia.

The women’s soccer team opens training camp on Monday, Aug. 18 at Concordia Stadium on the Loyola campus. The Stingers will play seven exhibition games before opening the season at home on Friday, Sept. 12 versus the UQAM Citadins.
