Erica Cadieux soccer game set for Sunday

The Concordia Stingers will wrap up the women’s soccer season with the 3rd annual Erica Cadieux memorial game versus the McGill Martlets on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Concordia Stadium.

The game is symbolic of women's university soccer supremacy between the two institutions and pays tribute to Cadieux, who died tragically when she was struck by a car in January 2006.

Afterwards members of Cadieux's family will present the plaque that bears her name to the captains of the winning team.

Cadieux was a mid-fielder/defender with the Stingers women's soccer team 1992-'94. Rhonda Baptiste, a former teammate and one of the event organizers, describes Cadieux as "an exceptional human being who was filled with Stinger pride."

There is no charge to attend the game. However, donations of cash and teddy bears for the Montreal Children's Hospital would be appreciated.

McGill won the first two Erica Cadieux memorial games. The Martlets edged out the Stingers 1-0 on Sept. 18 – the only meeting between the teams this season.
