Berthiaume wins soccer sportsmanship award

Concordia Stinger goalkeeper Fanny Berthiaume was the only member of her team on the honor roll when the QSSF announced its women’s soccer all-stars and major award winners today.

Berthiaume, a fourth-year player from St. Constant, Que., won the Quebec conference’s women’s soccer sportsmanship award.

Although she is a fierce competitor, she has a strong sense of fair play and sportsmanship. She earned the respect of the university coaches for her respectful attitude towards officials and opposing players.

Berthiaume, a team captain, was selected player of the game in six of the 12 games she played this season. She helped a young Stingers team post a 3-10-1 win-loss-tie record and finish in sixth place in the eight-team league.
