Mancini, Chicoine named Athletes of the Week

Nikita Chicoine and James Mancini of the wrestling team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 26.

Chicoine, a fifth-year wrestler, won a silver medal in the 63 kilos weight class at the CIS national championships at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ont., on Saturday. It was her fifth CIS medal in an accomplished career. She earns second team all-Canadian honours for her performance. It’s the third time she has achieved all-Canadian status.

A 23-year-old native of Montreal, Chicoine is currently studying Athletic Therapy in the Exercise Science Department at Concordia. 

Mancini, a fourth-year wrestler, took first place in the 65 kilos weight class at the CIS national championships at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ont., on Saturday. It’s the third gold medal and all-Canadian honour for Mancini. He also finished first in the 61 kg category in 2006 and 2007.

The 27-year-old student from Pierrefonds, Que. is studying Leisure Sciences at Concordia.
