ConU soccer coach gets national team post

Concordia assistant coach Alex Eskenazi is currently in Panama working with Team Canada as it competes in the CONCACAF under-20 women’s soccer World Cup qualifying championship.

The tournament runs today through March 11 in Ciudad Panama and La Chorrera, Panama. Canada's plays Haiti today, Jamaica on Saturday and Mexico on March 5.

The eight-team CONCACAF championship will qualify three teams to the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

Prior to arriving in Panama, Canada held a two-week selection camp in San José, Costa Rica.

Eskenazi, a Beaconsfield resident, was a mid-fielder with the Stingers for four seasons ending in 2009. She joined the Concordia staff in 2010.

She also coaches with the Lakeshore U-15 AAA girls team and at the provincial level.
