Three members of the Concordia Stingers women's rugby team have been named to the 2006 QSSF all-star team.
Captain Sydney Theriault, a second-year fly half from Calgary, leads the Concordia standouts. She is the player everyone counts on to move forward and to keep the Stingers organized. She executes the game plan and inspires confidence in actions and words. Theriault was also a 2005 all-star.
Flanker Vanessa Ng and No. 8 Larissa Andrusyshyn were also named to the team. Both are first-time QSSF all-stars. Ng of Brossard, Que., is a third-year Design Art student in Concordia's highly respected Faculty of Fine Arts. Andrusyshyn of Reno, Nev., is working on a masters degree in English.
"I'm ecstatic," said Concordia head coach Graeme McGravie. "This is fantatsic. It's testament to the team. I think highly of all three athletes and I feel each was dominant in her position."
Concordia finished the season with a 3-2 win-loss record and lost a tough semifinal match 10-5 to the McGill Martlets.
