Stingers rugby get two decisive wins over Ravens

Women’s rugby won their last game of the regular season on Oct. 5 at home with a final score of 29-3 against the Carleton Ravens, only allowing them a penalty kick.

Prop Steve Kalaydjian scored two tries and was named the Stingers’ MVP for the game. Hooker Hannah Booler, prop Fallon Coulouris, and 8 Penelope Anderson each scored a try. Back Madeleine McTavish scored two conversions.

Women’s rugby are ranked third in the RSEQ and ninth in U SPORTS with a 4-2 record and 20 points. They also have a playoff spot secured.

Men’s rugby scored a dominant win against the Carleton Ravens on Sunday, Oct. 6, taking the 78-7 victory.

Twelve tries were scored by 11 different players, including two by centre Cameron Harte. Nine conversions were good and Centre Philip Hacala, who scored five of them, was named MVP for the Stingers.

The other tries were scored by Jaxon Alexander, Elias Brunel, Michael Cavaliere, Anthony Giannatsis, Alex McNichol, Paul Salangre, Kyle Shibata, Sam Speedy, Brandon Taylor, and Jackson Veinot.

Men's rugby have two more regular season games, first they host Montréal on Oct. 12 before travelling to Bishop's for their regular season finale.
