Concordia Stingers women’s rugby player Megan Allard has been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2026 FISU World University Championship Rugby Sevens, set for Sept. 4-6 in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Allard is one of 12 student-athletes from across Canada selected to the Canadian roster for the international tournament, which brings together university athletes from around the world.
Canada will look to build on its silver-medal performance at the 2024 championship in Aix-en-Provence, France. The Canadian women have a strong history in the competition, capturing three world university titles since rugby sevens was added to the FISU World University Championship program in 2004.
The 2026 Canadian squad features student-athletes representing 10 universities across Canada and the United States, including three players from the University of Victoria.
Allard enters the tournament following a standout 2025 season with the Stingers. The Concordia back was named a second-team RSEQ all-star and was recognized as the Women’s Rookie of the Year at the Concordia Athletics Awards Gala for the 2024-25 season.
Now, Allard will take her talents to the international stage as Canada looks to return to the top of the FISU podium in Stellenbosch.
