Stingers claim Kelly-Anne Drummond Cup with 71-0 shutout over McGill

The Concordia Stingers women’s rugby delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, defeating the McGill Martlets 71-0 to capture the Kelly-Anne Drummond Cup.

Mahalia Robinson led the way with a standout 20-point outing, scoring two tries and adding five successful conversions. Joelle Vallee, Lauren Hineman and Penelope Anderson each crossed the try line twice, while Elsa Chisolm, Steve Kalaydjian, and Madeleine McTavish also touched down. McTavish added three conversions to round out the scoring.

The victory was not only a statement win but also a meaningful one, as the Kelly-Anne Drummond Cup honours the memory of the late Stingers rugby alumna, who played for Concordia from 1999 to 2002. The annual rivalry match between Concordia and McGill serves as a tribute to her legacy.

With the win, Concordia evens its record at 2-2 and sits in fourth place in the RSEQ standings, trailing Laval, Montréal, and Ottawa. The Stingers will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup on the road against Montréal on September 27 at 2:45 p.m.
