Concordia Stingers captain Sydney Theriault was named a CIS all-Canadian during the annual womens university rugby awards banquet in London, Ont. this evening.
A fearless leader on the field, the fly half scored two tries in five Quebec conference games this season. The English Literature major is an exceptional tackler. She has great vision and soft hands. She is quick over five yards, meaning she can get through a gap quicker than anybody.
Theriault, 21, is very athletic and played several sports at Shawnigan Lake high school in Victoria, B.C. She came to Concordia in 2004 and suited up for the Stingers' basketball team before choosing to focus on her rugby career in 2005. She was a QSSF all-star in her first year of university rugby.
She is Concordia's first women's rugby all-Canadian since 2003 when Stinger assistant coach and national team member Sommer Christie was among the best in Canada.
