Dawson defender commits to women's hockey team

The Concordia women’s hockey program is pleased to announce Alexandra Nikolidakis, a defender from the Dawson Blues, has committed to joining the Stingers for the 2016-17 season.

Nikolidakis is a well-rounded defender who is very capable in every situation. She’s a shutdown player in her own end and is strong at helping transition into the offensive rush. She earns respect for being an intelligent and consistent player.

“Alexandra is exactly the type of student-athlete we want to be a part of our program,” said coach Julie Chu. “Academically, she excels in the classroom and athletically, she will add depth to our core.”

In 2014-15, Nikolidakis played 25 games with Dawson picking up four goals and 12 assists for 16 points. This year, she is helping the Blues battle for first place in the RSEQ college league. Dawson currently has an 11-1 win-loss record and has allowed just 13 goals in the 12 games.

The Laval, Que. native played in Cégep all-star game this past semester.Previously she was on Quebec’s U16 Team and was part of John Rennie’s Sport-Études program in high school.

At Concordia, she plans to pursue her studies in Exercise Science.
