Stingers set for U SPORTS Nationals clash with Manitoba

The Concordia Stingers women's hockey team are headed to the national stage.

Fresh off capturing the RSEQ championship, the Stingers will travel to Elmira, Ontario this week to compete at the U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championship. Concordia enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will open the quarterfinal round against the No. 7 seed Manitoba Bisons on Thursday, March 19 at 3 p.m. ET.

The Stingers arrive at nationals after a dominant season, posting a 22–2 regular-season record before going a perfect 4–0 in the RSEQ playoffs to capture the conference title. Their strong campaign earned them the second seed in the eight-team national tournament, just behind the UBC Thunderbirds.

The championship field also features the Guelph Gryphons, UNB Reds, Ottawa Gee-Gees, tournament hosts the Waterloo Warriors, the Bisons, and the Montréal Carabins.

Quarterfinal games will be played Thursday and Friday. Concordia’s matchup with Manitoba opens the tournament Thursday afternoon, followed by No. 3 Guelph taking on host Waterloo at 7 p.m. On Friday, Montréal faces top-seeded UBC at 3 p.m., while Ottawa meets UNB at 7 p.m.

Semifinals are scheduled for Saturday evening following two consolation games earlier in the day. Medal games will be played Sunday, with the bronze medal game at 11 a.m. and the national championship game set for 3 p.m.

Fans can watch every game live on CBC Sports digital platforms in English, while French coverage will be available through Radio-Canada. The gold medal game will also be televised nationally on CBC and TVA Sports.
