The Concordia Stingers defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 5-0 in the second day of action at the 48th annual Theresa Humes women’s hockey tournament this afternoon.
Katherine Purchase picked up the shutout for the Stingers turning away 12 shots. Concordia racked up 44 shots and got goals from: Claudia Dubois, Caroll-Ann Gagne, Devon Thompson, Marie-Pier Cloutier and Emily Even.
In two days, Concordia has outscored its opposition 17-0. The Stingers defeated the UPEI Panthers 12-0 in opening day action. They’ve also outshot their opponents 87-20.
Other winners on Day 2 were the Plattsburgh State Cardinals who defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees 4-2, St. FX X-Women with a 3-2 shootout victory over the Laurentian Voyageurs and the Carleton Ravens who downed the UPEI Panthers 5-2.
Concordia will face a tough opponent in Plattsburgh State on Monday at 1 p.m. The Cardinals are also undefeated in the tournament. The game will take place at the Ed Meagher Arena, 7200 Sherbrooke St. W.
