Perrotte leads Stingers in cage honors

Concordia Stinger veteran forward Patrick Perrotte was named the outstanding player in the Quebec university men’s basketball conference as voted on by the league coaches.

The heart and soul of Concordia basketball is a five-time QSSF all-star. He was named to the CIS second all-Canadian team in 2006. He was an honorable mention all-Canadian in 2005.

In the 2006-’07 season, Perrotte was an all-star at the Concordia-Nike tournament and MVP of the Wilfrid Laurier tournament. In the QSSF, he averages an impressive 18.1 points a game and 4.4 rebounds. He leads the conference in field goal percentage at .575.

"Pat is often playing guys six inches taller than him and 30 to 50 pounds heavier and containing them and stopping them,“ says Stinger head coach John Dore. “This season he has made tremendous improvements defensively. He plays with great intensity and has the heart of a lion."

Joining Perrotte on the first all-star team are the brother tandem of Dwayne and Damian Buckley. Dwayne, a third-year forward has emerged as a force to contend with this season. He averages 16.4 points and 6.4 rebounds a game. Dwayne was a QSSF second team all-star in 2006. This season he was also voted the outstanding defensive player in Quebec.

Damian, a second-year guard, is the Stingers’ quarterback and leader on the floor. He averages 14.1 points and 4.2 rebounds a game. This is his second time on the QSSF first all-star team.

One more Stinger earned an all-star spot. Benjamin Sormonte was voted to the second team. A fifth-year forward, he brings a lot of maturity and experience to the team. He averages 12.6 points and 4.4 rebounds a game. Sormonte was also a QSSF second team all-star in 2005.
