Stingers to honour Beaulieu, all-stars in pregame ceremony

In a pregame ceremony before tonight’s RSEQ men’s basketball semifinal game at Concordia gym, Stinger Ken Beaulieu will receive his fourth and final all-star honour.

A fan favorite for his amazing dunks, Beaulieu has been a big presence in the RSEQ for four seasons. During that time, he has been a first team all-star on three occasions, including 2018. He was a second team award winner in his rookie season.

This year, he played an average of 31 minutes a game, picking up 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds. He led the Stingers in both categories.

Beaulieu, a Leisure Sciences student from Longueuil, Que., has completed his eligibility and is graduating in the fall.

Fourth-year guard Ricardo Monge and transfer student Jonathan Koud, also a guard in his third year of eligibility, were named to the conference’s second all-star team. It’s the first all-star honour for each of them.

Finally, two newcomers have earned recognition from the conference’s coaches who select the all-stars and award winners. Guard Anthony Sanago and centre Matthis Guerut were named to the RSEQ’s all-rookie team.

All five Stingers will receive their certificates from head coach Rastko Popovic at the start of tonight’s playoff game. The members of the Laval Rouge et Or who are on the league honour roll will receive their awards from head coach Jacques Paiement Jr.

The league standouts from Concordia’s women’s basketball team will also be honoured at the pregame ceremony.

The presentations start at 7 p.m. The men’s semifinal showdown between Concordia and Laval will start shortly afterwards.

Concordia gym is located at 7200 Sherbrooke St. W.
