This December, an annual winter tradition continues when the Concordia Stingers women's hockey team host its 51st annual Theresa Humes Women's Hockey Tournament at the Ed Meagher Arena.
A strong class of competitors joins the No. 5-ranked Stingers. The Syracuse Orange, a NCAA Division 1 program; the No. 8-ranked St. Francis Xavier X-Women and the Nipissing Lakers will challenge Concordia.
Syracuse has a 4-3 record and is currently in third place in the six-team College Hockey America standings.
St. FX has a 10-3-3 record and sits in second place the eight-team Atlantic University Sport conference. The X-Women earned a berth at last year’s U SPORTS championship where they met the Stingers in the opening round. Concordia won 8-1.
The Lakers finished 11th in the voting for the last U SPORTS Top 10 rankings. They have a 9-3-1 record and are in second place in the 13-team Ontario University Athletics conference.
The three-day tournament gets underway Dec. 28 and wraps up on Dec. 30. There will be two games a day.
