Audrey Belzile of the women's hockey team and Charles-Éric Légaré of the men's hockey team have been named the Subway-Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 3.
Belzile, a third-year forward, stood out in her team’s two games in RSEQ action last week. She scored the lone goal to help lead the Stingers to a 1-0 victory over the No. 4-ranked McGill Martlets on Sunday. Two days earlier she had an assist and was instrumental in helping her team defeat the Carleton Ravens 4-2.
A 21-year-old native of St. Hyacinthe, Que., Belzile is an International Business student at Concordia.
Légaré, a fourth-year forward, was on fire in the biggest game of the regular season. He scored two goals to help the Stingers defeat the No. 8-ranked McGill Redmen 4-3 in the Corey Cup before a packed house last Saturday. He was also solid in his team’s tough 4-1 loss to the No. 5-ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees the previous night.
The 24-year-old student from Quebec City is studying International Business at Concordia.
