Stingers to rally for cancer fundraiser this weekend

The Concordia Stingers women's hockey team is pleased to announce its inaugural Pink in the Rink weekend will take place this Friday and Saturday.

The players will be out in full force on Friday night meeting fans and fundraising for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation while the men’s team plays a must-win game versus the UQTR Patriotes at 7:30 p.m.

Everyone is encouraged to donate and pick up pink ribbons. There will be raffles, as well as cupcakes and Pink in the Rink T-shirts ($10) for sale. This year’s raffle includes a pair a Montreal Canadiens tickets for the game Feb. 21 versus the Philadelphia Flyers.

The following day at 3 p.m., the fundraising will continue at the women’s hockey game when the Stingers face off against the Montréal Carabins.

Between periods in the arena lobby, defensive lineman Jérome Bédard Guillemette will lend his support by cutting his hair – something he hasn’t done in four years. His goal is to add $1500 to the fundraising efforts.

The games take place at the Ed Meagher Arena, 7200 Sherbrooke St. W.
