Rookie guard Sami Jahan is looking forward to playing at home.

Home court looms large in men's basketball semifinal

After splitting four intense regular season games, the Concordia Stingers men's basketball team will host the Bishop's Gaiters in a RSEQ semifinal game Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Concordia Gym.

The Stingers won the first two meetings, both played on home court. The Gaiters answered back by winning the last two contests, both played in Lennoxville, Que.

However, Concordia holds the edge in the standings with a 10-6 win-loss record and a second-place finish. Bishop’s finished third with an 8-8 record.

Obviously, the Stingers are taking this game very seriously.

“The Gaiters have been playing hard and they are on a winning streak,” said Concordia rookie guard Sami Jahan. “I’m sure they are confident, but we’re playing at home and that’s a little different.

“We have been preparing for them since before the regular season ended. Today we watched film twice and practised. We are looking closely at every little thing they do.

“We will be prepared and we’re glad to be playing in our gym.”
