Head coach Greg Sutton is pleased to announce the first commitments for the Concordia Stingers women's soccer team's 2021 recruiting class.
The program will welcome forwards Maryse Vienneau and Abby Barwick, both from Russell, Ont., next year.
Most recently, Vienneau played for the Gloucester Hornets. She has also represented Ottawa South United and the Russell Raiders.
“We are excited to have Maryse join our team,” said Sutton. “Her athleticism and speed will be great advantages at the university level. We will be able to use them to help unbalance opponents. In the time we spent speaking with her about her opportunities at Concordia, her work ethic and her determination to get better stand out the most.”
Barwick's most recent team was Futuro Soccer Academy. She also played for the Nepean Hotspurs, Ottawa South United and Russell Soccer.
“Abby is a player we are also excited to add to our group,” Sutton said. “With her technical ability to play with both feet, she can be used in a variety of ways in the attacking positions. She’s great in the air. She is another young player with tremendous work ethic and passion for the game.”
