Philbert, Vinette - Athletes of the Week

Alice Philbert of the women's hockey team and Jean-Christophe Vinette of the men's rugby team have been named the Subway-Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 7, 2021.

Philbert, a fourth-year goaltender, played a key role in the Stingers’ two wins on the weekend. She recorded two shutouts, blanking the Bishop’s Gaiters 4-0 on Saturday and the Montréal Carabins 2-0 the following day. She stopped 19 shots in the Bishop’s game and 16 from the Carabins.

In four games this season, Philbert has a 1.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .950.

A 25-year-old resident of St. Bruno de Montarville, Que., Philbert is enrolled in Concordia’s Graduate Diploma in Business Administration.

Vinette, a fourth-year back row player, was a significant contributor in the Stingers’ 33-0 RSEQ championship win over the McGill Redbirds on Saturday. He scored two tries in the first half, helping Concordia head into the break with a 21-0 lead. He also made his presence felt on defence. He was all over the field making key tackles.

The victory gives Concordia a berth in the Canadian University Men’s Rugby Championship at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont. at the end of the month.

The 23-year-old student from Lorraine, Que. is studying Accounting and Finance in the John Molson School of Business.
