Dawson captain Laurie Piché commits to women's soccer team

Head coach Greg Sutton is pleased to announce Laurie Piché, an exceptional defender with the Dawson Blues women’s soccer team, has committed to the Concordia Stingers.

“We are excited to add Laurie to our squad,” said Sutton. “She is a strong defender with great ability to play out of the back and is important as leader having captained her Dawson side.”

Piché has been with the Blues since 2019. She was a RSEQ all-star in her rookie season and was the team captain her final two years. In 2021, Dawson posted a perfect 7-0 win-loss record in the regular season.

At the club level, Piché plays with CS St-Hubert in the Première Ligue de soccer du Québec. Piché will join the Stingers at training camp this summer and is excited about starting her university career.

“I chose to continue my journey at Concordia in most part because of the soccer aspect.

"I was only starting Cégep when (Stinger assistant coach) Wilfried Monthe contacted me and wanted to know if I would be interested in coming to play at Concordia,” Piché explained of her recruiting experience. “Three years later, he contacted me again to let me know he was still interested. I accepted the offer right away as I loved the coaches’ approach and how they showed their interest. I feel very supported by them and I cannot wait to start the season and semester.”
