Soccer commit Emma Liagridonis brings competitive fire to the Stingers

Head coach Greg Sutton is pleased to announce midfielder Emma Liagridonis from the Ottawa Gloucester Hornets has committed to the Concordia Stingers women's soccer program.

“Emma will bring a lot to our group,” said Sutton. “She is a  midfielder that covers a lot of ground with her athleticism and soccer IQ. She has a very good technical skill set and a real competitive fire.”

Liagridonis, who calls Ottawa home, has a unique sports background. In addition to competing at the highest level with the Hornets, she has attended camps with Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and been with the Polish national team at the U15 and U17 levels.

She attends Holy Trinity Catholic High School where she participates in multiple sports, including soccer, basketball, volleyball and track and field to name a few. She earned Athlete of the Year honours in 2018 and 2019.

With such an impressive résumé, the midfielder had several options to consider but ultimately the Stinger family was the best fit.

“First of all, I love Montreal,” said Liagridonis. “Then during the recruiting process, I felt appreciated and welcome right away. I felt like I could be a key contributor. The soccer program is young and up and coming and the environment is great.”

She will join the Stingers for training camp in August and begin her studies in Political Science and History in September.
