Léonie Philbert of the women's hockey team and Sami Jahan of the men's basketball team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 8, 2023.
Philbert, a third-year defender, was impressive in the Stingers’ first game of the new year. She collected two goals and two assists for four points to help Concordia defeat the Ottawa Gee-Gees 5-1 on the road on Saturday.
A 23-year-old from St. Bruno de Montarville, Que., Philbert is studying Pure and Applied Math at Concordia.
Jahan, a third-year point guard, was instrumental in helping the Stingers earn a bronze medal at the Rod and Joan Shoveller Memorial Tournament hosted by Dalhousie University over the holidays. He had 67 points over three games – two wins and a loss. He was named to the tournament all-star team which wrapped up on Dec. 31.
