Rosalie Bégin-Cyr, Phélix Martineau - Athletes of the Week

Rosalie Bégin-Cyr of the women's hockey team and Phélix Martineau of the men's hockey team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending March 5, 2023.

Bégin-Cyr, a graduating senior, was outstanding in Concordia’s three-game championship series versus the Montréal Carabins. The talented forward scored the only two goals in a 2-1 win last Thursday in Game 1. She also collected a goal in the third and deciding game on Sunday, helping the Stingers win 4-1 and secure their second consecutive RSEQ championship.

With six goals and three assists in five games she is the leading scorer in the RSEQ women’s hockey playoffs.

The 24-year-old from St. Georges, Que. is enrolled in the John Molson School of Business where she studies Accounting and Supply Chain Management.

Martineau, a centre playing his second season with the Stingers, was a bright spot in a difficult playoff series with the UQTR Patriotes last week. The captain scored five goals in the three-game OUA East finals. He had a hat trick in a 5-1 Concordia win last Wednesday. He had a goal in each of the next two games – 5-3 loss last Friday and a 5-4 OT defeat on Sunday.

He is the Stingers’ top scorer in the playoffs with six goals and an assist in five games.

A 25-year-old from Terrebonne, Que., Martineau is studying Industrial Engineering at Concordia.
