Rosalie Bégin-Cyr of the women's hockey team and Jonathan Lemieux of the men's hockey team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending March 19, 2023.
Bégin-Cyr, a graduating senior, was outstanding in Concordia’s three-game championship run at the U Sports women’s hockey nationals March 16-19. She was instrumental in helping the Stingers bring home a silver medal.
The talented forward scored three goals in the tournament, including one on a penalty shot in the final game versus the Mount Royal Cougars. She was named to the U Sports championship all-star team.
The 24-year-old from St. Georges, Que. is enrolled in the John Molson School of Business where she studies Accounting and Supply Chain Management. Lemieux, a rookie goaltender with the Stingers, was a bright spot in Concordia’s tough 2-1 loss to the UNB Reds in the quarter-finals at the U Sports men’s hockey national championship last Thursday. He turned away 23 of 25 shots and was named player of the game. (The Reds would go on to win the gold medal).
A 21-year-old student-athlete from Beloeil, Que., Lemieux is studying Economics at Concordia.
