Head coach Julie Chu is pleased to introduce seven skilled, young student-athletes who have committed to the 2023-24 Concordia Stingers women's hockey team.
The recruiting class includes three forwards, three defenders and a goaltender.
“This group brings a lot of talent across every position and will add depth to our team,” said Chu. “The new players will also add to our positive, team-first culture.”
Arianne Leblanc – Goaltender
Last Team: Stanstead College
Hometown: Repentigny, Que.
Coach Chu’s Comments: Arianne is a goaltender that excels under pressure. She is athletic, composed and a true competitor. Besides her ability to make great saves, her calm demeanor in goal gives confidence to her teammates. She already carriers herself with a great maturity that will allow her to adjust well to the university game.
Other: She won a gold medal at the 2023 U18 world championship as a member of Team Canada. She also represented Quebec at the most recent Canada Winter Games.
Émilie Lussier – Forward
Last Team: John Abbott College
Hometown: Ste. Martine, Que.
Coach Chu’s Comments: Émilie is a dominate forward. She is a fast and powerful skater who has great skills. She has the ability to score and set up her teammates for offensive opportunities. She competes every shift she is on the ice.
Other: She participated the 2022 national team selection camp in Calgary last August. She is a RSEQ all-star and was instrumental in helping John Abbott College win conference championships in 2022 and 2023.
Béatrice Caron - Defender
Last Team: Champlain College, Lennoxville
Hometown: La Prairie, Que.
Coach Chu’s Comments: Béatrice is an offensive defender who likes to join the rush and who is able to make solid plays along the offensive blue line. She might not be big in stature, but she embraces a gritty and physical game that allows her to compete hard for pucks.
Ani Robinson – Defender
Last Team: Ottawa Lady Sens
Hometown: Ottawa
Coach Chu’s Comments: Ani is a smart and consistent defender. She has tremendous hockey sense and can be counted on for her great transition passes that start her team’s offensive rushes. She is a smooth skater and that allows her to defend well.
Other: In 2023, she won a silver medal at the Ontario provincial championships in the U22 AA category.
Rosalie Parent – Forward
Last Team: Cégep André-Laurendeau
Hometown: La Prairie, Que.
Coach Chu’s Comments: Rosalie is a hard-working and solid forward, who has the abilities to play in a lot of different situations. Her relentless work ethic allows her to continue to get better each season.
Noémie Gaudreault - Forward
Last Team: Dawson College
Hometown: Bromont, Que.
Coach Chu’s Comments: Noémie competes hard and has a strong offensive touch. She releases her shots very well which makes her dangerous especially on the power play.
Leah Kosowski – Defender
Last Team: John Abbott College
Hometown: Châteauguay, Que.
Coach Chu’s Comments: Leah is a defender capable of playing in every situation. She embraces the physical side of the game and takes away her opponent’s space in the defensive zone. Offensively, she has a great shot from the point which will add another layer to our offence.
Other: She is a member of the 2022 and 2023 RSEQ champion John Abbott Islanders.
