Head coach Rastko Popovic is pleased to announce Sami Ghandour, a former captain and accomplished forward with the Concordia Stingers men's basketball team, has joined his staff.
“I am beyond excited to have Sami return to our team,” said Popovic. “From his early playing days, Sami’s leadership, communication skills and IQ were evident on and off the court, and I always knew it would translate into coaching one day. His outgoing personality, passion for the game and the familiarity with the program will be tremendous assets for our young players as well as our coaching staff.”
Ghandour played five seasons with the Stingers, wrapping up his university career in 2022. He was instrumental in helping Concordia win a RSEQ title in 2019. He scored 17 points and hauled in nine rebounds in a 73-69 win over the UQAM Citadins in the championship game.
The win gave the Stingers a berth at the U Sports national championship tournament for the first time in seven years.
A John Molson School of Business student, Ghandour completed an undergraduate degree in Finance and a graduate certificate in Accounting.
