Four Stingers named to men's basketball RSEQ all-star teams

In his ninth year as the Stingers’ head coach, Popovic was named RSEQ Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 12-4 record and finishing the regular season first in the RSEQ.

Guards Sami Jahan and Jaheem Joseph were named to the first and second All-Star teams, respectively, along with guard Jordan Telfort and forward/center Karam Sahly being named to the All-Rookie team. Head coach Rastko Popovic was named RSEQ Coach of the Year.

Jahan averaged 15.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. His 15.4 points per game average has Jahan ranked 3rd in the Quebec conference, and his 54 assists have him ranked 5th. The fourth-year guard was named to the first All-Star team in 2022-23, to the second All-Star team in 2021-22, and to the All-Rookie team in 2019-20. He was also the Stingers male athlete of the week for Feb. 5-11.

Joseph led the team in points and steals per game, averaging 15.8 points, 1.8 steals, and 5.7 rebounds. His 15.8 points per game have him ranked 2nd in the RSEQ, while his total of 28 steals have him ranked 3rd. The second-year guard was also named to the All-Rookie team in 2022-23. Additionally, he was the Stingers male athlete of the week five times this season.

Telfort and Sahly showed a lot of promise in their rookie season with the Stingers, both playing significant minutes in all 16 games. Sahly averaged 5.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and Telfort averaged four points per game.

Jahan is studying Economics, Jaheem is in his second year in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Sahly is studying International Business, and Telfort is completing an Arts and Science Certificate.
