Women’s hockey is ranked first in U SPORTS and the RSEQ for a second week, now with a 4-0 record and 8 points.
The Stingers played the Bishop’s Gaiters twice last week, winning both match-ups.
After going down 3-2 after the first period, the Stingers scored 3 unanswered to come away with the 5-3 win on Friday night. Forward Émilie Lavoie and defender Léonie Philbert were the goal-scorers in the first period. Defender Alexandra-Anne Boyer scored twice in the middle frame, both goals assisted by forward Courtney Rice. Defender Béatrice Caron scored the fifth and final goal, sealing the win. Goaltender Arianne Leblanc made 29 saves.
On Sunday, Oct. 27, women’s hockey went to Bishop’s for a rematch and came back home with a 4-1 win. Forwards Émilie Lussier, Megan Bureau-Gagnon, Zoé Thibault, and Lavoie scored a goal each. Boyer finished the game with 3 assists. Goaltender Jordyn Verbeek made 25 saves.
Verbeek leads the conference in goals-against average (.500) and save percentage (.975).
After two away games, women’s hockey will be back at the Ed Meagher Arena for another matchup against the Gaiters on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
