Women’s hockey finish the first half of the season undefeated and first in U SPORTS and in the RSEQ with an 11-0 record and 22 points.
The Stingers beat the McGill Martlets 7-1 on Friday, Nov. 29. Forward Emilie Lavoie scored a hat trick and added an assist. Forward Alexis Bedier had a goal and an assist, forward Kate Furlong scored her first U SPORTS goal, while forwards Émilie Lussier and Courtney Rice also scored a goal each. Forward Jessymaude Drapeau tallied 3 assists, and defender Léonie Philbert put up 2 assists. Goaltender Jordyn Verbeek made 15 saves for the win.
Lussier is the U SPORTS leader in goals, with 12 goals in 11 games played. Her total of 17 points also ranks her at fourth in points in the country.
Drapeau is tied for second in U SPORTS in assists (11 assists, 4 goals, for 15 points).
Goaltenders Arianne Leblanc and Jordyn Verbeek lead the RSEQ in save percentage (.939 and .933 respectively) and goals-against average (1.50 and 1.17). They have only allowed 7 goals each this season, which makes them tied for the second-least goals allowed in U SPORTS.
Émilie Lussier has been named RSEQ athlete of the month for her exceptional play throughout November. Lussier scored 9 goals, 4 assists for a total of 13 pts in 7 games helping women's hockey win 7 games.
Women’s hockey will be back at the Ed Meagher Arena after the break on Friday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. to host the Martlets again.
