After a win and a loss last week against the first-ranked Bishop’s Gaiters, Stingers men’s basketball remains in second place in the RSEQ with a 10-2 record and 20 points.
Men’s basketball beat the Gaiters on Thursday, Feb. 6 by a final score of 90-73. Guard Junior Mercy made his presence known with an impressive 37 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Guard Jaheem Joseph also tallied 17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Bishop’s won the rematch 96-72 on Saturday in Lennoxville. Mercy put up 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist in that game.
Women’s basketball was defeated by Bishop’s by a final score of 61-55 and 73-69 on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. Centre Serena Tchida had 30 points, 12 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals on Saturday, while guard Nelly Owusu put up 18 points, 5 steals, and 5 rebounds.
Stingers basketball will be back at the John Dore Court on Thursday, Feb. 13. Women’s basketball will start the doubleheader against the Laval Rouge et Or at 6 p.m.
