Lussier, Lavigne named top athletes at Stingers Gala

Émilie Lussier and Simon Lavigne were awarded the top prize at the 2025 Stingers Awards Gala on April 10, after outstanding seasons with their respective teams.

Lussier was named Player of the Year for the RSEQ for the 2024-25 season, and nominee for U SPORTS Player of the Year.

Only in her second season with Stingers women's hockey, Lussier has proven to be one of the top players in all of Canada, finishing 2nd in U SPORTS in goals scored (18) and tied for 3rd in points (31), all while playing in significantly less regular season games (20) than those who scored more.

Lussier scored more than one goal in a game 6 times throughout the season and scored two or more points in 9 games. Lussier also finished the season with 5 game-winning goals, 2 short-handed goals and a hat-trick. She was selected to represent Canada at the FISU games in Torino, Italy, where she won a silver medal.

In her rookie season, Lussier was named an RSEQ 1st Team All-Star, All-Rookie and 2nd Team All-Canadian after scoring 18 goals, 16 assists for 34 points in 23 games.

A native of Sainte-Martine, Quebec, Lussier is working towards a degree in Leisure Studies.

Simon Lavigne, assistant captain for Stingers men’s hockey, had quite the season in 2024-25, helping Concordia win the program's first Queen’s Cup OUA conference championship, beating TMU 4-1 and finishing the regular season with a 21-7 record, the best for the program since 1982-83.

Statistically, Lavigne has had an exceptional offensive season for a defenseman, scoring 12 goals, 10 assists for 22 points, leading the OUA in goals by a defender and finishing tied for first on his team for goals. Lavigne has proven to be valuable on the power play, scoring 8 PPG this season. He missed 3 games during the regular season while helping Team Canada win FISU gold in Torino, Italy.

A native of Blainville, Quebec, Lavigne is studying finance.
