Stingers sweep Carabins in weekend series, Drapeau hits 100-point milestone

The Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team delivered a dominant weekend performance, defeating the Montréal Carabins twice in back-to-back games.

On Friday night at CEPSUM, the Stingers edged out the Carabins 3–2. Jessymaude Drapeau opened the scoring, and Émilie Lussier added two goals to secure the win. Goaltender Belle Mende was outstanding between the pipes, stopping 34 of 36 shots.

The teams met again Saturday evening at the Ed Meagher Arena for Pink in the Rink, Concordia’s annual weekend in support of breast cancer research and care. The Stingers carried their momentum into the rematch, cruising to a 5–1 victory. Drapeau struck first in the opening period, followed by second-period goals from Zoé Thibault and Angélie Jobin. After Montréal got one back, Drapeau sealed the game with an empty-netter before rookie Juliette Leroux added her first career goal with a minute left on the clock.

Goaltender Jordyn Verbeek made 12 saves and now leads the RSEQ with four wins. Drapeau, meanwhile, reached a major milestone by recording her 100th regular-season point as a Stinger. With 12 points in seven games, she currently leads the RSEQ scoring race, just ahead of teammate Émilie Lussier (9 points).

The Stingers (6-1) will look to keep their winning streak going when they host the McGill Martlets on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Ed Meagher Arena.
