The Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team grabbed two massive overtime victories over the McGill Martlets this weekend, winning both games by identical 2–1 scores.
Friday night at McConnell Arena, McGill opened the scoring in the first period and held the lead until the halfway point of the game. Émilie Lussier buried the equalizer in the second period, and a tight, scoreless third sent things to overtime. In the extra frame, Katia Pelowich — a transfer from St. Thomas University — played hero, finishing off a setup from Lexi Bedier and Rosalie Parent.
Sunday’s rematch at Concordia looked almost the same. McGill struck first in the opening period and carried the 1–0 lead deep into the third. Captain Jessymaude Drapeau delivered the tying goal, with Lussier and Zoé Thibault picking up the assists. In overtime, it was Rosalie Parent’s turn to end it, tipping home a point shot from Béatrice Caron.
With the sweep, the Stingers move into first place in the RSEQ at 8–1 and sit second in the national U SPORTS rankings.
Concordia returns to action next Sunday at Place Bell in Laval, facing Bishop’s at 1 p.m.
