The Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team continued its dominant season with a weekend sweep of the McGill Martlets, earning wins on Friday and Sunday to improve to 14–1 on the year and remain ranked No. 2 in U SPORTS.
On Friday, Jan. 16, the Stingers skated to a 4–2 victory over McGill. Concordia received goals from Lexi Bedier, Jessymaude Drapeau, Émilie Lussier, and Courtney Rice, providing balanced scoring throughout the lineup. In goal, Jordyn Verbeek was solid, turning aside 20 shots to earn the win.
The two teams met again on Sunday, Jan. 18, in a tightly contested matchup that required double overtime, with the Stingers prevailing 3–2. Jessymaude Drapeau led the way offensively, scoring two goals, including the game-winner in overtime. Zoé Thibault added the other Concordia goal, while Belle Mende was outstanding between the pipes, making 21 saves in the victory.
With the two wins, Concordia continues to sit near the top of the national picture, carrying a 14–1 record and holding steady at second in the U SPORTS rankings.
The Stingers return to action Friday at home against Bishop’s at 7 p.m. for their Pride Game, before traveling to Lennoxville to face the Gaiters again on Sunday.
