The Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team picked up a 2–1 overtime win over Bishop’s on Friday night, thanks to a clutch performance from their goaltender and a timely OT finish. After a scoreless opening period, Émilie Lussier opened the scoring for Concordia in the second, giving the Stingers a 1–0 lead. Bishop’s responded later in the game to force overtime, but Concordia held strong under pressure.
Goalie Jordyn Verbeek was outstanding between the pipes, turning aside 24 shots and coming up with several crucial saves in the final minute of regulation to keep the game alive.
In overtime, Katia Pelowich sealed the victory, scoring the game-winner to secure the Stingers’ 2–1 win.
The Stingers continued their dominant run on Sunday with a 3–0 road win over Bishop’s in Lennoxville, extending their winning streak to 12 games.
After a tightly contested start, Rosalie Parent opened the scoring with what stood up as the game-winning goal. Concordia protected the lead deep into the third period before captain Jessymaude Drapeau sealed the victory with two empty-net goals.
In net, Jordyn Verbeek was rock solid, stopping all 21 shots she faced to earn the shutout.
The Stingers now head into a stretch of four straight road games, beginning this Friday and Saturday with a two-game series at Montréal.
