The traditions and successes of Concordia University’s annual Theresa Humes Women’s Hockey Tournament will be celebrated by CBC’s Hockey Day in Canada this Saturday.
The Concordia Stingers held their 40th annual women’s hockey tournament the first weekend in January. CBC reporter Cassie Campbell joined the festivities and will introduce viewers to Theresa Humes, a former Concordia Director of Women’s Athletics and a champion of women’s hockey; Concordia head coach Les Lawton and Charline Labonté, a member of the Canadian national team who suited up for the McGill Martlets in the tournament.
The feature on the prestigious, long-running event is scheduled to air at approximately 2:09 p.m., but is subject to a slight shift in time.
The Hockey Day in Canada segment is the latest of many national media features that have focused on the Concordia Stingers women’s hockey program. In recent years, the team or individual players have been featured in Sports Illustrated Women Sport, Chatelaine and Athletics Management Magazine.
