3 Stingers named to rugby all-star team

The Concordia Stingers placed three student-athletes on the Quebec university women’s rugby all-star team that was announced on Wednesday.

Lock Claire Hortop, a second-year player from Mississauga, Ont., makes the honor roll for the second straight year. She is in her second year of studies in the Exercise Science program.

Third-year fullback Jennifer Rosenbaum earns her first all-star. She was a top scorer with the Stingers this season. She scored six tries in six games. She also scored a try in Concordia’s 13-5 victory over the McGill Martlets in the QSSF semifinal last Sunday. The native of Ormstown, Que. is in her third-year of Spanish studies.

Rookie centre Jackie Tittley had a huge impact on the Stingers and the Quebec conference in her first year, and her talent was acknowledged by the league’s coaches who selected her for the all-star team.

In five games Tittley scored five tries. She also connected for 10 converts and four penalty goals. A resident of Kirkland, Que., she is studying Human Relations at Concordia.
