Men's basketball team riding win streak

The Concordia Stingers men’s basketball team is riding an impressive five-game winning streak in RSEQ conference play thanks to back-to-back wins over the Laval Rouge et Or last week.

Last Thursday at Laval, the Stingers rolled the Rouge et Or 73-63. Veteran guard Adam Chmielewski led the way with 19 points, including three 3-pointers.

On Saturday at home, Concordia struggled in the rematch and trailed by 16 points early in the second half. Again Chmielewski proved to be a force and led the Stingers to a big 62-57 come-from-behind victory.

After being neutralized early, he stepped up in the last 20 minutes. He scored a 3-pointer with 2:11 left to play, giving the Stingers a 58-55 lead – their first advantage of the game. He finished up with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Concordia now has a 5-3 win-loss record and a piece of first place in the Quebec conference. The Stingers will put their streak on the line this Thursday at 8 p.m. when they host the McGill Redmen at Concordia gym. The cross-town rivals boast a 5-1 record and are in a tie for top spot in the league.
