Cagers clinch first place

With a 67-61 victory over the McGill Redmen at Concordia gym in N.D.G. on Saturday afternoon, the Concordia Stingers clinched first place in the QSSF men's basketball conference.

The No. 7-ranked Stingers now have a 12-2 win-loss record. Concordia will have home-court advantage throughout the playoffs, beginning with a Quebec conference semifinal on March 3 at 7 p.m.

Second-year forward Dwayne Buckley scored 20 points to lead the Stingers. Rookie guard Damian Buckley chipped in with 14 points and senior guard Chris Blackwood had 13 points.

McGill's Olivier Lamoureux was the leading scorer in the game with 23 points - 20 of which came in the first half. The score at halftime was Concordia 39, McGill 35.
