Travis Bent gets invite to CFL combine

With more than 25 scouts scrutinizing his every move, Stinger linebacker Travis Bent rose to the occasion at the CFL regional combine in Montreal hosted by Concordia University this afternoon.

On his home turf, he had one of the top performances in physical testing and one-on-one drills, earning one of five spots available at the three-day CFL evaluation camp in Toronto this weekend.

Bent did 19 reps on the bench press and ran the fastest 40-time (4.9 electronic) out of all the linebackers. He also excelled in the one-on-one drills going up against the top running backs in the camp.

The Ajax, Ont. native had 19 solo tackles and 20 assists in eight conference games last year. In 2012, he led the RSEQ in tackles with 45 solos and 33 assists in nine games.

At the CFL camp, there will be approximately 55 prospects under consideration for the 2014 CFL Canadian college draft that will be held in May 13. Bent will join four other Concordia players in Toronto: linebacker Max Caron, slotback Kris Bastien, defensive lineman Quinn Smith and quarterback Reid Quest.
