Eric Maximuik set the RSEQ record for longest field goal when he hit a 56-yard kick at Laval on Sunday.
Women’s hockey:
The Stingers went undefeated in the Theresa Humes Cup, winning the tournament.
They won their first game 2-1 vs. the St. FX on Friday, Sept. 27. They shut out the Queen’s Gaels 4-0 on Saturday and beat St. FX again on Sunday by a score of 4-1.
The Stingers were led by two 4th year forwards, Émilie Lavoie and Jessymaude Drapeau, who scored a combined 8 goals.
Football:
Stingers football fell to the Laval Rouge et Or by a final score of 34-10. Kicker Eric Maximuik set a new record for the longest field goal in RSEQ history, hitting from 56 yards out. He went 3 for 3 on field goals and was named the RSEQ Special Teams Player of the Week.
Running back Franck Tchembe led the team in rushing with four attempts for 53 yards. Defensive back Mendel Joseph finished the game with six tackles, one interception, and two pass break ups.
Women’s soccer:
Stingers women’s soccer faced the McGill Martlets on Sept. 27. Midfielder Elisa Sandiford scored for the Stingers, but it wasn’t enough, ultimately falling 3-1 to the Martlets.
They headed to UQTR on Sunday, Sept. 29 and defeated the Patriotes 1-0. Defender Lauren Curran scored the lone goal and Rosalie Girouard made all four saves for the shutout.
Women's soccer currently sit in 7th place in the RSEQ.
Men’s soccer:
After dropping 1-0 to the McGill Redbirds on Friday and 2-0 to the UQTR Patriotes on Sunday, men's soccer will be back at home this Friday, Oct. 4 vs. the Montréal Carabins.
They remain second in the RSEQ with a 4-3-1 record and 13 points.
Women’s rugby:
Women’s rugby faced the Rouge et Or in Québec City on Sept. 28. The Stingers scored two tries, one by prop Fallon Coulouris and one by 8 Penelope Andrson. Back Madeleine McTavish scored a penalty kick and a conversion. This brought the final score to 45-15 for the Rouge et Or.
Men’s rugby:
Men’s rugby played the ÉTS Piranhas on Saturday, Sept. 29. Centre Cameron Harte and Winger/Centre Anthony Giannatsis each scored a try. Centre Philip Hacala also hit two conversions but the Stingers fell to the Piranhas by a final score of 40-14.
