Brigitte Laganière commits to Stingers women's hockey team

The Concordia women’s hockey team is pleased to welcome defender Brigitte Laganière from Anjou, Que. to the Stingers family.

Laganière is an integral part of the powerful Cégep de Saint-Laurent Patriotes program. She is an assistant captain with the Patriotes who won the RSEQ championship last year. They are currently in first place with 19-1-1 record.

“Brigitte is a well-respected player and leader on her team,” said Concordia coach Julie Chu. “She is a shutdown defender. She is often matched up against top lines on other teams. She logs a lot of minutes with her team.

“We’re excited to have her with us. She will add depth to our defensive corps.”

Laganière was on the RSEQ all-star team that faced Team Quebec U18 last fall. She currently has one goal and seven assists for eight points in 21 games.

Prior to joining the Patriotes, Laganière played midget AA hockey for the Canadiennes de Montréal.

She plans to study in Concordia’s Therapeutic Recreation program.
