The Concordia Stingers men’s hockey team extended its winning streak to 11 games last weekend with a pair of one-goal victories at Ed Meagher Arena, improving their record to 18-8 on the season.
On Friday night, the Stingers edged the Carleton Ravens 4–3, holding off a late push to secure the win on home ice. Alexandre Nadeau opened the scoring, while Christopher Inniss, Alex Gaudio and Hugo Primeau also found the back of the net as Concordia built just enough of a cushion to survive the Ravens’ comeback attempt.
Saturday night delivered even more drama, as the Stingers hosted McGill in the 38th edition of the Corey Cup. In a back-and-forth contest in front of a packed crowd, the rivals traded chances and goals through regulation before heading to overtime tied 3–3. Captain Simon Lavigne sealed the rivalry win with the game-winning goal in overtime, sending the home crowd into celebration. Sean Larochelle, Mathieu Bizier and Alexandre Nadeau also scored for Concordia in the Corey Cup victory.
With the two wins, the Stingers continue their hot streak and now sit ranked No. 1 in U SPORTS and second in the OUA East standings.
