Recruit Alex Fontaine will bolster men's soccer lineup

Head coach Greg Sutton is pleased to announce Alex Fontaine, a defender from the RSEQ Cégep champion Ahunstic Indiens, has committed to joining the Concordia Stingers men’s soccer program.

“Alex is very athletic and a big, strong player,” said Sutton of his six-foot, 178-pound recruit. “He reads the game well and can be the type of player that gets involved in the attack. We hope he will be able to contribute right away.”

The 20-year-old Kirkland, Que. native has enjoyed a long, accomplished soccer career that includes playing in the Lakeshore and Mount Royal-Outremont organizations.

This summer he is competing with St. Hubert in the Première Ligue de soccer du Québec.

In the fall, Fontaine will study Electrical Engineering at Concordia.

“I feel I can learn a lot about soccer and also in my program of study,” said Fontaine of his decision to join the Stingers. “I think it’s a new era in Concordia soccer. I feel there’s something special with the team and coach Greg Sutton.”

Fontaine will join the Stingers at training camp in August.
